• One of the biggest global challenges of the century will be enhancing water availability and managing it more efficiently. ACCIONA Agua operates throughout the water cycle, contributing towards the treatment, purification, reuse, desalination and management of water for more than 50 million people.
• In its commitment to finding alternative sources of potable water, it has become an international trendsetter in reverse osmosis desalination, which today is the most advanced, efficient and reliable technology for obtaining desalinated water, achieving a high degree of energy efficiency. ACCIONA's leading position is visible in the company's current development projects: it is building the largest desalination plants in the US, the UK and Spain.
• ACCIONA's commitment to innovation, rational use of natural resources and reducing pollution is epitomised by its focus on renewable energy.

• In 2006, it produced more than 6,000 MWh of clean energy, thus avoiding the emission of six million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. That is equivalent to the cleansing effect of 300 million trees performing photosynthesis.
• ACCIONA is also active in, and committed to, sustainable construction. The development of new building materials and methods which reduce environmental impact to a minimum as well as guidelines and strict controls for each of the company's projects are hallmarks of ACCIONA Infrastructure.
